Barbarini's Tambourine is an English Country Dance. It was published by Walsh in 1745. It was interpreted by Jacqueline Schwab in 1987. Found in The Playford Assembly. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 40 bars.
Walsh writes:
The 1st Man casts off, and the 2d Wo. casts up, and half figure The 2d Man and 1st Wo. do the same. Fall back sides, and lead into their Places, then back to back sides, and back to back Partners. Then right and left quite round and turn your partner.
The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.
The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), cast, figure eight, rights and lefts, back to back (and probably others).
