Monica's Delight

Monica's Delight is an English Country Dance. It was devised by Pat Shaw (website) in 1931 and published in Pat Shaw Collection of Dances. It is a proper 2 Couple Longways dance. There is no progression in this dance. It is a USA dance. The dance lasts 48 bars.

Pat Shaw says he devised this dance at the age of 13 (one of the earliest dances he wrote) to a lass, Monica, from Edinburgh on whom he had a crush.

I think the dance would work better with a 12 bar B section rather than an 8.

Note, this dance predates Maggot Pie.

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color.

The dance contains the following figures: USA, hand turn (allemande), set, cast, hey, circular hey, rights and lefts, siding, arming (and probably others).

If you find what you believe to be a mistake in this animation, please leave a comment on youtube explaining what you believe to be wrong. If I agree with you I shall do my best to fix it.
