Mr. Cosgill's Delight ~ Kennedy

Coreli's Maggot ~ Kennedy

Mr. Cosgill's Delight ~ Kennedy or Coreli's Maggot ~ Kennedy is an English Country Dance. It was published by Walsh in 1728 in New Country Dancing Master 3rd Bk, London. It was interpreted by Douglas & Helen Kennedy in 1929 and published in Country Dance Book, New Series. Found in The Playford Ball. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 16 bars.

Playford writes:

Note: Each Strain is to be Play'd twice over.

The first Couple Hands across with the second Couple and go the half round Then the same back again Then the first Man change places quick with the second Woman, and the first Woman with the second Man at the same time; then all foure go round into their proper places Then Right-hand and Left with the second Couple

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: circle, hands across, hey, circular hey (and probably others).
