Orange Nan

Orange Nan is an English Country Dance. It was published by Walsh in 1713, London. It was interpreted by Andrew Shaw in 2002 and published in The She Favourite. Found in The Playford Assembly. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 24 bars.

Walsh writes:

The first Men change Places with their Partners, then the first Man changes with the second Woman (now the first Woman is in the first Man's Place, the second Woman in the first Woman's Place, the first Man in the second Man's Place, the second Man in the second Woman's Place) The Men change Places with their Partners, the second Man changes Place with the first Woman (now all proper) Men and Women Back to Back, then with your Partners Right Hands and Left cross over two Couple cast up into the second Couples Place, and turn Hands

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), cast, lead, rights and lefts, cross go below, back to back (and probably others).
