Rossmore ~ 3 Couple Rossmore

Rossmore is an English Country Dance. It was published by John & William Neal in 1726 in A Choice Collection of Country Dances. It was interpreted by Rich Jackson & George Fogg in 1990. It is a Triple Minor dance with the 1s improper. The minor set lasts 40 bars.

In an improper triple minor people at the ends should switch sides when there is only one couple out (not when there are two at that end).

The Neals write:

Note: 1st cu: change place's before ye Dance begin's:

1st ma: sides both sides wth 2d wo: his partner ye same wth 2d ma: att same time:
1st ma: ye wth 3d wo:his par: ye wth 3d ma:att same time:ending in 3d cu: place improper:
1st cu: cross over & goe up into 2d cu:place proper, cross again & goe up into their own place's improper & turn both hands proper:
1st 2d & 3d cu: right and left each following their sex & end in 2d cu: place improper:

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), turn single, lead, rights and lefts, siding, cross go below (and probably others).
