The Collier's Daughter ~ Sharp or The Duke of Rutland's Delight (Triple) is an English Country Dance. It was published by Playford (John Young) (website) in 1718 in The Dancing Master, Vol. the Second, 3rd ed., London. It was interpreted by Cecil Sharp (website) in 1916 and published in The Country Dance Book (Part 4). It is a proper Triple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 32 bars. It is in the key: G minor. Someone thought this dance was Intermediate.

Playford writes:

The first Couple cross over and turn in second Couple's Place And then cross over and turn in the third Couple's Place Then lead your Partner up to the Top and Hands quite round and turn all four single Then Right Left quite round and turn your partner

The tune was published with the dance. It was performed by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Peter Barnes, and Jacqueline Schwab) on the album By Request. The music is used with permission from the Country Dance Society, Boston Centre, Inc.

The animation plays at 109 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily (no music plays during this slow set). Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

An online description of the dance may be found here.
