The Jubilee ~ Thompson

The Jubilee ~ Thompson The Jubilee ~ Wilson

The Jubilee ~ Thompson is an English Country Dance. It was published by Thompson in 1771 in Thompson's Twenty Four Country Dances for the year 1771, London. It was interpreted by sometime before 2022-06-05. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 32 bars.

Thompson writes:

Right hands across quite round · left hands back again ·· cross over and half figure right and left

I'm told the music is a 32 bar reel (I don't have a copy). That means the "right hands across quite round" needs to fill 8 bars when it usually takes 4. It could be danced very slowly, or go twice around. Same for the left hands across in A2.

As usual, "cross over" in B1 means, "cross over and cast down".

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: lead, figure eight, hands across, rights and lefts, cross go below (and probably others).
