Trip to the Jubilee - Thompson ~ 3 Couple

Trip to the Jubilee - Thompson ~ 3 Couple Trip to the Jubilee - Thompson ~ Triple

Trip to the Jubilee - Thompson ~ 3 Couple is an English Country Dance. It was published by Thompson in 1757 in Thompson's Compleat Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, Vol. 1, London. It was interpreted by Pat Shaw (website) in 1964 and published in Another Look at Playford. Originally a Triple Minor this version is a proper 3 Couple Longways dance. In this dance the couples are permuted by: 231. The minor set lasts 48 bars.

This is not "A Trip to the Jubilee" found in Playford. That refered to a different Jubilee. This one refers to George II's twenty fifth year on the throne of the UK. There is yet another "Trip to the Jubilee" in Rutherford.

Thompson writes:

First and 2d. Men lead between the two We. and foot it We. do the same 1st. cross over two Cu. and lead up to the Top foot it and cast off Hands all Six round and Right Hands and Left at Top

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: set, circle, cast, lead, rights and lefts, cross go below (and probably others).
