Marjorie Heffer and William Porter published Maggot Pie in 1932 (probably assisted by Arthur Heffer, Marjorie's husband, who died before publication). This was the first book of new country dances published in England since about 1850. It was the first book that used the old "up a double/siding/arming" since Playford stopped printing them in 1679.

Unfortunately the dances were not widely accepted, the very forward of the book, written by Douglas Kennedy, director of the EFDS, damns it with faint praise:

In any case these maggots ... deserve the encouragement of every English Dancer, although they cannot be officially sponsored by the E.F.D.S. Who knows what may be their ultimate fate? Some may die after a short existence. Others may live to be collected...

Well, here they all are, collected, 90 years later.
