Earth Adored

Earth Adored is an English Country Dance. It was devised by Joseph Pimentel (website) in 2018 and published in The Green Jay Collection. It is a proper 3 Couple Longways dance. In this dance the couples are permuted by: 312. The minor set lasts 32 bars. It is in the key: G major. Someone thought this dance was Intermediate.

In A9-12 Pimental uses a figure he calls a tandem set and link. It's not the same as a three couple set and link. It's more like a two person set and link with an additional third person (to the left of the other two) who moves in tandem with the person on the left. That is, the person on the right-most end of the line casts right ending in the leftmost position in its own line, while the other two turn inward each moving one place right. Everyone ends facing the same way they faced before, and not in lines across.

The tune, called Sagina, was composed by Thomas Campbell in 1825. It was performed by Goldcrest (Daron Douglas, Paul Oorts and Dave Wiesler) on the album the Green Jay Collection. The music is used with permission from the Joseph Pimentel and Goldcrest. The album may be purchased either at the CDSS online store or at Bandcamp.

The animation plays at 92 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily (no music plays during this slow set). Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), set, gypsy, circle, cast, lead, hands across, siding, cross go below (and probably others).
