Hendall's Hornpipe

Hendall's Hornpipe is an English Country Dance. It was published by John & William Neal in 1726 in A Choice Collection of Country Dances. It was interpreted by Rich Jackson & George Fogg in 1990. Originally a Triple Minor this version is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 48 bars.

Perhaps out of Water Music (composed 1717)?

The Neals write:

1st cu: half figure wth 2d cu: end improper & 2d cu: ye same:
1st ma: change place's wth 2d wo: & 1st wo: ye same wth 2d ma: & 1st cu: cast up all ending proper:
1st cu: cross & half figure wth 2d cu: & whole figure wth 3d cu:
1st cu: (in ye middle) & lead up in abreast wth 2d cu: & half figure wth 2d cu: ending improper then right and left quite round:

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: cast, lead, figure eight, rights and lefts, cross go below (and probably others).
