Jumper's Chase

Jumper's Chase is an English Country Dance. It was published by Walsh in 1715 in Twenty Four New Country Dances for the Year 1715, London. It was interpreted by Andrew Shaw in 2006 and published in Emperor of the Moon. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 16 bars.

Playford (I can't find Walsh's original) writes:

Note: The first Strain twice, and the last but once over.

First Couple cross over and go the Figure between the second Couple. This to the first Strain once. The the second Couple do the same This to the first Strain twice. The the first Couple cast off and lead down through the third Couple, and cast up into the second Couples Place, then cross quite round the second Couple. This to the last Strain play'd once.

This dance was originally a triple minor.

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: set, circle, cast, lead, figure eight, cast and lead, lead and cast, cross go below (and probably others).
