Triple Minor Mixer

Three Mixed

Triple Minor Mixer or Three Mixed is an English Country Dance. It was devised by George Williams in 2025. It is a proper Triple Minor dance. It is a mixer. The minor set lasts 16 bars.

This is not a real dance, I'm simply playing with a new format.

Here the 1s progress down the set normally, but the 2s and 3s switch partners. M2 will progress down the set while W2 progresses up. M3 progresses up while W3 stands still.

Behavior can be a bit odd at the ends, but if you start with 2 mod 3 couples (5,8,11,14...) then everything works pretty much as expected.

For the men everyone retains the same role until he reaches one of the ends of the set, 1s&2s moving down as the 3s move up. For the women 2s&3s alternate roles, the 1s move down, 2s up and 3s stand still.

The tune was published by Playford with the dance, Jamaica, and the music was synthesized by Colin Hume's software.

The animation plays at 107 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily (no music plays during this slow set). Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.
