Pirouette Allemande

Bars: 4.

In a pirouette allemande, a couple approaches each other, then they take right (or left) hands, raise them above the woman's head, as she pirouettes around underneath, and then they retire.

History

The Regency Dance Site has a nice paper giving the history of the allemande in English dancing.

Longman uses a pirouette in 1768 in a cotillion.
