Tourbillon

An online definition may be found here.

Bars: 8.

The Tourbillon is a progressive figure for two couples. They two hand turn their partners half, and then release hands closest to the center of the set. M1,W2 draw their partners one place clockwise (with one hand joined, still facing the center of the set). 1s on the Women's side, 2s on the men's set across. Taking both hands with partner, turn half way, and release the innermost hands. W1,M2 draw their partners clockwise one place across the set. Cross with partner by the right hand.

History

Barry Priddey published at least three dances in 1984 which contain the Tourbillon (The Burn of Sorrow, for one). Most of his dances and publications are undated, so these may not be the earliest ones, but they are the earliest I can date.
