This is an unusual hey, since half the people in it are stationary, it has something of the feel of a figure eight.
There are two versions of the hey in the dance, first the men weave around the women, and then the women weave through the men. I only show the men weaving.
The men follow M1 as he dances across the set and outside W1, then between W1+2 and inside W2, then between W2+3 and outside W3 and loops around W3 to start up inside. M2 follows him. M3 starts to follow, but cuts it short and loops around W2 and heads up in front of M1 (and M2).
M3 dances between W1+2, inside W1 and loops around her to head down. M1 follows him, as does M2 until he reaches W2 when he cuts it short and loops around her. Now he is in the lead.
M2 cuts between W2+W3, outside W3 and loops around her to head up. M3 follows. M1 starts to follow, but cuts it short, and loops around W2 and outside her. Now he is in the lead again.
M1 dances between W1+2, around W1, and then dances down, outside all the women, across the set down at the bottom and then up his own side to his starting place. The other men follow him, each finishing in his own place.
As far as I know, the only dance to use a sheepskin hey is Picking of Sticks. Both the Playford version, and the Lovelace version seem to have this figure. (Lovelace reorders the figures) It was interpreted by Cecil Sharp in 1910.
