This list contains all dances in the book which I have animated for a complete list of dances in the book see here.

During the latter half of the 18th century (and into the 19th) Thompson family published a series of annual dance books called Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year xxxx.

Colin Hume decided to examine one of these, the one from 1778, and interpret all (or nearly all) the dances in it. And I foolishly decided to make animations of all of his interpretations, and interpolate the few which he omitted.

Many of the dances are not ones we would choose to dance today as they are often all about the 1s, with the 2s&3s doing almost nothing. We don't like this, but in the 18th century, when there were no walk throughs, and the top couple in the line taught it to everyone else by dancing it with them, well it made sense for the 1s to do everything.

Colin Hume is not the only person to interpet some of these dances. Colin's interpretaions stick closely to the original text, but some other interpreters throw in meanwhile figures where the other couples get a chance to dance too.
