Fop's Fancy

Fop's Fancy is an English Country Dance. It was published by Walsh in 1715, London. It was interpreted by Andrew Shaw in 2002 and published in The She Favourite. Found in The Playford Assembly. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 24 bars.

Walsh writes:

Note: Each Strain twice.

The 1st. cu. take hands with the and 2d. man and go all three quite round and turn single then all four take hands and go round back again and turn single the 1st. man change places with the 2d. wo. and the 1st. wo. with the 2d. man then right hands and left half round, and each turn his partner the 1st. cu. cast off and go back to back, then all four right hands and left quite round

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), turn single, circle, cast, lead, rights and lefts, back to back (and probably others).
