The Lord Mayor's Delight

The Lord Mayor's Delight is an English Country Dance. It was published by Henry Playford (website) in 1697 in An Additional Sheet of New Dances for the Second Part. It was interpreted by Helwig, Hamilton, Dodson/Christian sometime before 2020-08-24. Found in The Playford Assembly. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 32 bars.

Playford writes:

The 1. man cast off below the 2. man, then back to back with the 2. wo. and stand in the 2. man's place The 1. wo. cast off below the 2. wo. and go back to back with the 2. man, being in the 1. man's place and stand in the 2. wo. place

All four hands half round, then fall back and turn S Cross over with your own Partners, then the 1. cu. set to their own Partners and cast off

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: set, turn single, turn single cloverleaf, circle, cast, lead, back to back (and probably others).
