The Doldrum

The Doldrum ~ 6 Cpl The Doldrum

The Doldrum is an English Country Dance. It was devised by Marjorie Heffer & William Porter in 1932 and published in Maggot Pie. It is a Square dance. There is no progression in this dance. It is a multipart dance. The dance lasts 96 bars.

Maggot Pie mentions that after making a slight change to the figures for the four couple dance, the description will work for an arbetrary number of couples. But this is unmodified dance for four couples.

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), circle, cast, hands across, star promenade, back to back (and probably others).
