New New Nothing

New New Nothing is an English Country Dance. It was published by John Playford (website) in 1651 in The English Dancing Master, London. It was interpreted by Scott Pfitzinger (website) in about 2019. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. It is a multipart dance. The minor set lasts 64 bars. It is in the key: B Flat Major.

Playford writes:

Lead up all a D. back all, proffer a little to slip to the left, each change places with his wo.
Lead down, back all, slip a little to the right, change places
First man change with the 2. wo. and the 2. wo. with the first wo. then the first man with the 2. man, and the 2. man with the first wo.
First and 2. man change places by both hands, then the we. as much, first man and wo. lead up between the 2. cu. into the first place, cross over and go on the outside into the 2. place, change places.

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.
