The Cressons

The Cressons is an English Country Dance. It was devised by Gary Roodman (website) in 2018 and published in A Combination of Calculated Figures. It is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 24 bars. It is in the key: D minor. Someone thought this dance was Intermediate.

The tune, also called The Cressons, was composed by Dave Wiesler, and performed by Cilantrio (Karen Axelrod, Kate Barnes and Mary Lea) on the album Mr. Roodman's Fancies. The CD was given to me by Mr. Roodman and is used with his permission.

The animation plays at 103 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily (no music plays during this slow set). Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), circle, cast, lead, poussette, siding (and probably others).
